Fantastic addition to a set he already had. The different shapes and clear pieces add another dimension

This expansion set is a good addition to other Connetix sets. This set contains a variety of shapes to use in your next building, car or marble run. The clear tiles are well constructed with magnets around the edges. I like that they allow for added creativity to your builds. The set is well made, but at the current price point I am unsure if the value is there.

UPDATE: FYI, they measure 3” (7.5 cm) on main attaching length. I first saw this type of toy at my granddaughters’ place. I thought, wow, that looks like a lot of fun! So I grabbed these ones when they came up. The other ones are coloured and these ones are clear. They’d be very nice together. So when I got this set, I was playing with it to test it, trying to build something. It came with a fantastic many-paged book of inspiration. Nicely printed, quality paper, very colourful and showing a great number of possibilities for building structures. So I thought great, went ahead and started playing with these pieces I had. I didn’t have a lot of time but it didn’t take long before I started to get perplexed. I had a lot of trouble working out which pieces to put together to make something like a building. The shapes were all a bit unusual. I blamed myself for not having enough time to sit with it. I thought, geez, you have to be a genius engineer to work out how to make buildings out of this. Then I came back to write my review, read the listing again and THAT is when I noticed that this is an “expansion pack”! LOL. Certainly having the standard pack would have paved the way more quickly to building something! But they were all nice, snapped together very strongly, depending on the surfaces that were attached, some were actually difficult for me to pry apart. The whole set is well made. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box with a resealing tab closure for storage. And that book... that was really great. I knew that they were expensive from the set of my granddaughters. I've bought a fair share of magnetic tiles for my littles and the first thing that stood out for this product is the unique shapes it provides. It is very durable and sturdy with all the magnet strips around the shapes. I think for caregivers that have very beige and monochromatic color styles in their playrooms or homes, these magnetic tiles would be a great addition since they are transparent. We haven't had any issues with any of the tiles breaking, but we have only had it for two months. The kids enjoy building with it very much, but I would say that there aren't enough pieces if your child is into building big structures and you only have these pieces to build with. This is really only an extension pack since there are 24 pieces. The price is a little steep for the number of pieces you are getting. Of course there are other ways to use these tiles. We have also been using them to form words. I write on it with washable black markers while the kids find the right letters to attach together to make words. I would say it is good for this too if you are looking for other ways to use them besides building structures.
