Beiktehy kit couture 10 animaux en feutrine dès 6 ans

I brought this Beiktehy felt animal sewing kit for £12.79 - the kit arrived quickly and in good condition. Included in the package is: a vacuum packed bag of stuffing, 10 animal designs made from pre-cut felt, some safety scissors, 4 plastic embroidery needles, embroidery thread and an instruction sheet. The instructions are extremely basic (practically non-existent) they say: sew the animal together leaving a small gap, stuff it, close the gap, attach the accessories. Thankfully the patterns are simple and don’t take much to figure out. Though there are a few creatures like the bear, that have additional panels of felt for the head, or belly, and you have to look at the group example picture to figure out what goes where. For the tiger I made it using only what is in the kit. It took me about 20 mins. The safety scissors are very blunt. You can just about cut thread with them but it’s a struggle. The plastic needles worked great (actually I have very shaky hands due to a medical condition and it was wonderful to use the plastic needles and not be constantly stabbing myself! I ditched the safety scissors for the second animal I made, but I kept using the plastic needles!) I made sure to start sewing the tiger with the knot in between the two felt sheets (so that I wouldn’t have a knot on the finished outside) and I just did a running stitch all the way along the edge. I stuffed the tiger halfway through because I anticipated that the legs would be hard to stuff if I left all the stuffing to the end. And at the end I closed up the gap and tied off the thread in between the front and back panels. The accent pieces of felt were pre-cut but still needed to be pulled away from their sheet. That left fuzzy burrs on the edges. (Safety scissors were no help there. For the second animal I used embroidery scissors to snip the joins.) The accents have double sided tape on the back so no need for additional glue, just peel the tape and stick on. The pieces all stuck securely and I was pretty pleased with the tiger at the end. I also made the bear. That took me 15 minutes now that I knew what I was doing. He came with googly eyes and the sticky backing on those was extremely hard to peel off, so young crafters would definitely require assistance there. Also he didn’t come with a nose. Luckily there was sticky black felt left over from the tiger so I just made him one by cutting out a small triangle. Verdict: these are fun short projects that can be done in 15-20 minutes. There are 10 different designs to make and the end products look cute. The felt pieces are well made and feel good quality. They are easy to sew with clean pre-made holes and neat edges. There is plenty of good quality thread included and you can make the pieces using only what is in the kit. However the lack of detailed instructions could be puzzling for first timers or younger crafters. Also anyone with dexterity issues might have some difficulty peeling the double sided tape backings off the accent parts. These type of felt kits are available on Amazon starting at around £6 for smaller sets. However for the number of animals in this kit and the nice quality and cute designs, I’d say that this one is good value, but you can always shop around to find other offers and designs.
